One of such areas is a side surface of neck, with neuro-vascular bundles concentrated in it.

  • Depression

  • Frequent mood swings
  • Hormonal disorders.

What rocks are used for hot stone therapy?

Only smooth and tapered basalt stones of natural volcanic origin fit for the therapy. Basalt rocks are mined in Indonesia, Peru, Argentina and Hawaii. Basalt has high thermal capacity. It heats and cools slowly. Some therapists use hot basalt with cold marble, but we at Diana & Kate think that hot stone massage primal aim is to warm inner tissues, giving relief to tired muscles without temperature gradients. Besides, therapy with hot rocks only feels more comfortable and has better impact on patient’s body.

How hot stone massage is made?

Hot stone massage is made in well-ventilated room with relaxing music. Each session lasts from 45 to 90 minutes and begins with oil application on the body, so that stones may slide on skin. First, stones heat in hot water until 55-℃ temperature. Then therapist starts massage, moving upwards. Hot stones in both hands massage feet and knees, thighs and shoulders, neck, and then back with spinal column and waist.

On the second part of procedure therapist puts hot stones on the active points of body along spinal column, thus warming underlying tissues from surface to 4 cm depth. As a result of professional hot stone massage, you feel warmth and lightness in all body, and get strong energy boost for all week. Recommended frequency of stone therapy — 1 or 2 sessions per week. We also recommend cup of herbal or green tea when massage is over.

Hot stone therapy health benefits

Therapist gently fits massage to your personal needs. Hot rocks are put in the area of 9-th, 10-th and 11-th vertebra to heal chronic cholecystitis, in waist area — to heal urino-genital diseases, or on overworked muscle — to fasten recovery. Hot stone massage is good for people with muscle and joint pains, because it has not additional physical load on tissues, as in classic massage.

Such therapy also relives muscle tensions after orthopedic surgery or sports injuries and reduces menstrual pain. Professional hot stone therapy soothes your mind, relaxes body and opens inner energetic channels.
